Through stories told of Parkinson’s patients in their myriad of problems, a refreshing perspective is opened up from the patients’ point of view.
I have decided to write this book based on this perspective because of a statement that one of my patients said to me a few years ago, “Doctor, it is easy for you to tell me what to expect from the medical treatment, but you are not the one suffering from the illness, so you cannot understand how I feel and how I respond to the medical treatment.”
This book covers a more holistic guidance on the management of this illness – covering not only the movement disorders (body), but also the psychiatric disorders (mind) and the more profound matters of relationships and faith (soul).
Many stories are shared in this book, thanks to the generosity of my patients in allowing me to tell them. It is hoped that readers will learn from them and be guided towards a more successful management of their Parkinson’s. Certainly, there is a better tomorrow for all Parkinson’s patients.
