Synopsis:
This is a book written by a doctor (neurologist) about his patient. The patient, Lloyd Tan, who suffered from Parkinson’s disease, was one of the founders of the first Parkinson’s support group in Malaysia in 1993. Lloyd Tan was the selfless hero who stepped to the front to educate others about the illness and to motivate fellow patients to continue living with hope. Long before Lloyd Tan was involved in the Parkinson’s support group, he was already a community hero. He was a school teacher who went beyond the ordinary ambitions – he reached out to his students as a friend, father, role model, mentor and scoutmaster.

This book chronicles the life journey of Lloyd Tan through the eyes of people who were touched by his “magic”. It is richly illustrated by a substantial collection of photographs, memorabilia, old articles written by Lloyd Tan, news features and personally-written testimonies by friends, colleagues and students. This is also a medical reference book for those interested to learn more about Parkinson’s and the current state of neglect in Parkinson’s care in the Malaysia.
